The first glimpse of hope that spring is coming is the daffodils poking their heads up out of the ground. It always seems too early but once the blooms open, it’s surely the perfect time.
I let my daffodils naturalize and unfortunately only about half of them came back this year. I need to remember to pick up some more bulbs to plant next fall.
When the first green began showing up in February, it was still too cold to be working outside. Now that the bright yellow blooms are showing off, spring preparations are moving along in the garden. Roses have been pruned; weeds have been pulled, and the sprinkler system is primed and ready for duty as the days grow warmer.

Golden trumpets bright and fair,
Swaying softly in the air,
Dancing in the sun’s embrace,
With a gentle, tender grace.
Petals open, bright and wide,
Yellow beauty, far and wide,
Whispers of the coming spring,
In their colors, joy they bring.
